HLS Letters

HLS correspondence with Lewis and Cornelia; 11-27-50; from the University of Chicago:

". . . Fermi's theory is a good illustration of your theory of theoreticians, Dad.  He mentioned today that it really used little beyond elementary algebra, which is almost true.  But he just took a rather knotty problem and made it extremely simple by using an old method which hadn't been used on this problem before.  He learns quite a lot, too; the approach is very typical of him."
